Project description
The Ministry of Education and Training (MoET) through the Department of Education Services in Vanuatu has requested the support of Peace Corps Response Volunteers (PCRVs) to serve as a Literacy Intervention Specialists. The primary schools in Vanuatu have experienced low English literacy achievement of students for many years. The Vanuatu Standard Test and Achievement (VANSTA) has shown that students in grades 1-3 could not read with fluency and comprehension. MOET has identified a need for additional support in English literacy.
The PCRVs will work with Provincial Education Offices in the two provinces to provide guided learning, to co-plan, co-train and co-facilitate literacy activities with provincial officials and primary school teachers. Overall, the end goal is to ensure that all kids from grade 3 -6 can read at or above grade level content by the end of 4 years of implementation.

Required Skills
- BA in Literacy Education or other relevant field
- 3 or more years of experience in literacy education.
