Project description
The Department of Education Services in Vanuatu has requested the support of Peace Corps Response Volunteers (PCRVs) to serve as Secondary Education STEM Teachers. With the arrival of the submarine cable to provide increased connectivity, Vanuatu has staked its vision for economic growth and technological advancement on STEM teaching in schools, with a special focus on promoting girls’ empowerment. To meet this vision, the country is transitioning to a more interactive student-centered, competency-based system which places the learner at the center of education experience.
The PCRVs will co-design and implement STEM-based lesson plans and teach one or two STEM subjects to include: Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Science or Statistics. The PCRVs will also engage in teacher training or communities of practice to promote interactive teaching methods, use of digital tools, and research-based teaching practices targeting all learners.

Required Skills
- BA/BS in Science/STEM field OR BA/BS in relevant field (e.g. education) with certification or significant relevant experience in STEM
- 2 or more years of relevant teaching experience.
- 2 or more years of specialized experience in one of the following areas: Math, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, Biology, Earth Sciences or Art
