Project description
The Technical University of Moldova's Department of Agriculture, Forestry, and Environment Science has requested the support of a Peace Corps Response Volunteer (PCRV) to serve as an Agriculture Program Development Specialist. Agricultural education in the Republic of Moldova is currently going through a very challenging period. By a government decision, the State Agrarian University of Moldova was absorbed by the Technical University of Moldova in 2022. As a result of this reform, significant efforts have been made, and successful projects have been implemented in recent years. However, despite these changes, the number of students enrolled in agricultural programs is on the decline.
The PCRV will participate in technical seminars conducted within the department, seminars organized for farmers, working meetings at the Ministry of Agriculture and other state organizations, and visits to farmers and experimental fields. A significant portion of the PCRV's activities will be dedicated to developing a program for the advancement of agricultural education. This comprehensive program will serve as a roadmap for transforming agricultural education, ensuring it is relevant, accessible, and impactful for the future of Moldova's agricultural and rural development.

Required Skills
- Master’s degree in Agriculture or related field
- 3 or more years of work experience in one of the following areas: farming systems, irrigation design, crop and animal production, post-harvest and pest management for commercial industry
- 3 or more years of work experience in agriculture program management and planning, ideally at a university or extension service
