Start date
September 29, 2025
End date
February 23, 2026
Duration
21 weeks
ELIGIBILITY: Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be a U.S. citizen.
Activity/project background
The Theoretical Lyceum of Tvarditsa in the city of Tvarditsa and the Theoretical Lyceum Korten Village in the village of Korten are focused on providing high-quality academic instruction and fostering personal growth within each student, preparing students for higher education and active participation in society. Students engage in a wide range of subjects, including sciences, humanities, foreign languages, and the arts.
To enhance their English education, each school requests the support of a Virtual Service Pilot Participant (VSPP) to provide a more authentic and practical experience for students seeking to improve their English language skills. Each VSPP will collaborate with staff to co-develop a conversational English club curriculum and co-teach club sessions. The VSPPs will each work with an English teacher to assess the English level of one of the two age groups (ages 12-16 and 16-19) before co-developing an appropriate curriculum and co-teaching each group. At orientation, each VSPP will be assigned a lyceum and meet the relevant lyceum staff.
Both lyceums have not previously collaborated with the Peace Corps. They understand that the role of a VSPP is very different than a two-year Volunteer.
Engagement and tasks
Each VSPP will engage in the following tasks, in collaboration with their Host Country Partners:
Online collaboration will generally occur between 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Moldova time. Specific times will be determined during orientation.
The Host Country Counterpart will have access to Zoom, WhatsApp for regular communication and collaboration.
Per the Child Protection Code of Conduct, when engaging online with minors (0-18), two adults must be present.
Optional Additional Activities
The Peace Corps mission is to promote world peace and friendship by fulfilling three goals:
