Duration

ELIGIBILITY: Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be a U.S. citizen.
Project description
The Cyril Potter College of Education (CPCE) in Guyana has requested the support of a Peace Corps Response Volunteer (PCRV) to serve as an Environment STEM Educator. The Ministry of Education in Guyana has recognized the need to strengthen science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education, with a particular focus on environmental sustainability. Teachers play a central role in shaping how students understand and respond to environmental challenges, yet many educators currently lack the training, resources, or confidence to integrate environmental STEM (E-STEM) topics effectively into their classrooms. The Cyril Potter College of Education has identified a need for support in the development and implementation of an Environmental STEM Education course within the college's teacher preparation programs.
The PCRV will collaborate with college faculty to design and develop an Environmental STEM (E-STEM) course for pre-service teachers that integrates local environmental issues, sustainability practices, and STEM concepts into engaging, hands-on lesson plans. The PCRV will also facilitate workshops and training sessions for both pre-service and in-service teachers on E-STEM teaching strategies and provide coaching and feedback to teachers during practicum experiences or classroom teaching.
