Project description
Milton Margai Technical University (MMTU), one of Sierra Leone’s leading institutions of higher learning, has requested the support of Peace Corps Response Volunteers (PCRVs) to serve as Curriculum Specialists. MMTU has embarked on an ambitious initiative aimed at enhancing the quality of education and building the capacity of both academic staff and the broader community. As a "beacon of education" in the country, MMTU recognizes the need to align its educational delivery with global best practices, especially in areas such as curriculum development, teaching methodology, and digital integration. The university is seeking the support of PCRVs to provide expert technical assistance in strengthening instructional delivery, developing training programs, and facilitating knowledge transfer in targeted subject areas.
The PCRVs, in collaboration with MMTU faculty, staff and students, will play a key role in curriculum design and instruction, supporting a portfolio of courses including the Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) program, with a focus on special education and commitment to serving vulnerable and differently-abled populations. Volunteers will build staff competencies, support programmatic innovation, and contribute to the university’s strategic vision of becoming a center of excellence. The need is urgent and rooted in MMTU's desire to ensure its graduates are well-equipped to meet both national and global workforce demands, while also uplifting the academic standards across the region.
