ELIGIBILITY: Must be at least 18 years of age. Must be a U.S. citizen.
Project description
Liberia is still recovering from 14 years of civil crisis which devastated the county’s social and economic fabrics. The education sector was seriously impacted. As the country gradually rebuilds, the need for qualified professionals in the education sector covering STEM education cannot be over-emphasized.
It is against this backdrop that the Ministry of Education is requesting Peace Corps Response Volunteers (PCRVs) with the requisite qualifications in Math, Physics, Chemistry and Biology for secondary schools and universities. The ministry has, in the past, utilized the services of PCRVs and would appreciate more assistance in capacity development for teachers in not only teaching Math and Science at High School, Community College and University levels, but also strengthening the facilities’ abilities to teach Laboratory skills. This position also includes supporting Rural Teacher Training Institutions which were created to support a pipeline for new teachers in the Liberian education system.
