Project description
The Ministry of Education and Reconciliation in St. Vincent and the Grenadines has requested the support of a Peace Corps Response Volunteer (PCRV) to serve as a Special Education Needs Support Officer, with a specific focus on teaching learners with visual impairments. As the Ministry advances toward the implementation of more inclusive education policies, the demand for specialized expertise in this field has become increasingly urgent. Ensuring that all learners, regardless of ability, are provided with equitable opportunities to access and benefit from education is a national priority. However, there remains a critical gap in the local capacity to effectively support students who are visually impaired. Addressing this skills deficit is essential to strengthening inclusive practices, enhancing teacher competence, and ensuring that every child has the opportunity to succeed.
Required Skills
BA in education/related field and at least 3 years of Special Ed. experience OR MA in Special Education/Related Field
2 or more years of teaching experience.
2 or more years specialized experience in of one of the following areas:
ASL, Speech Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or working with visually impaired.
