Activity/project background
Association d’Assistance et Développement (ASAD) is a community-based organization that works to improve the health and development of community members. Their work focuses on the following areas: (1) community health with projects on community dispensation of anti-retroviral medication, malaria prevention, and community prevention of tuberculosis; (2) nutrition and food security with projects on school canteens, school gardens, and prevention and management of malnutrition in children; (3) professional training for young girls and women to empower them in sectors such as restauration, sewing, hairdressing and beauty.
ASAD is seeking the support of one Virtual Service Pilot Participant (VSPP) to promote organizational visibility through media, web, and communication tools. Throughout the six-month engagement, the VSPP will support the development of a website, create content, and support social media growth for the organization.
The organization has previously collaborated with the Peace Corps. They understand that the role of a VSPP is very different from that of a Peace Corps Volunteer or Peace Corps Response Volunteer.
Engagement and tasks
The VSPP will engage in the following tasks, in collaboration with their host country partners:
Online collaboration will generally occur between 1:00 p.m.–5:00 p.m. Cameroon time. Specific times will be determined during orientation.
The host country counterpart will have access to a laptop, the internet, and a mobile phone for regular communication and collaboration and will use Google Meet, Zoom, and WhatsApp being the commonly used communication platforms.
Per the Child Protection Code of Conduct, when engaging online with minors (0–18), two adults must be present.

- Co-develop and launch ASAD’s official website within the first three months, ensuring at least three program areas are represented with updated content
- Produce either two success stories developed by staff or short documentary highlighting ASAD’s impact on health, nutrition, or community empowerment
- Increase ASAD’s social media engagement by 30% during the six-month engagement through posting and interacting with followers
- Provide two virtual training sessions for ASAD staff within six months on effective use of communication tools (social media, storytelling, basic graphic design)
- Mentor staff on website maintenance to encourage capacity strengthening

Education: Bachelor’s degree in communication, mass communications, or related field
Language: Intermediate French
Experience:
- 1 year developing digital communications, brand campaigns, or social media content
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills
- 1 year developing websites, including WordPress, Squarespace, or an independent domain
