About The Project
Calling all experienced and aspiring educators! Thai primary schools are looking to strengthen English education for grades 1 through 6.
Thailand’s education reforms emphasize communicative English to prepare students for a globalized world. Yet rural schools face challenges, including limited English exposure, mixed-ability classes, and teachers who are juggling other school duties and responsibilities that impact their availability for English support. These factors limit opportunities for lesson planning and professional development, making it difficult for students to gain confidence using English. English proficiencies will expand the academic or professional opportunities available to the students.
As an English Teacher, you will collaborate with local teachers to strengthen English learning through engaging, student-centered approaches and after-school activities that provide additional opportunities for students to practice the language. Your support will extend beyond the classrooms through teacher trainings, English clubs, camps, and community classes.
Activities
How you and the community will make an impact together:
Plan and facilitate student-centered English lessons that strengthen conversational language skills
Mentor teachers on strategies for teaching English as a foreign language (TEFL), such as phonics, classroom routines, and activity-based learning
Create and adapt high-impact teaching materials for grades 1-6
Support positive classroom management practices that encourage participation and build student confidence
Provide targeted tutoring for students needing extra support to ensure no learner is left behind
Lead English-focused extracurricular activities that extend learning beyond the classroom.
Strengthen school-community collaboration through cultural events and shared goals
You may also work on additional projects that meet the community’s interests and priorities, such as participating in community events or teaching English to the community members.
